2 SAS Staff Recognition Week 1 st – 5 th September ‘Stepping Up To t he Challenge’ This week is SAS (School Administrative and Support) Staff recognition week and I would like to acknowledge the vital role the School Administrative and Support Staff (Administration Managers and Officers, School Learning Support Officers, and General Assistants) play in our school. It’s also an opportunity for the school community to express appreciation to these dedicated staff members in the office, library, science, kitchens, classrooms and school grounds who play an important part in ensuring the provision of special ised support to the school’s executive, staff, students and P&C Association as well as quality education to students and the smooth running of the school. If you know someone in our school who has looked after your child or supported them this year, you may decide that this week is a good time to drop in a note or letter of appreciation for the work they do or have done. A little bit of positive feedback goes a long way I can assure you. Often their hard work goes unnoticed, however, without them we would not function as efficiently and as effectively as we do. Bulahdelah Central School will be providing a recognition morning tea for our SAS Staff on Friday, 5 th September. On behalf of the teaching staff at Bulahdelah Central School I’d lik e to say thank you to all of our SAS staff for their professionalism and dedication to education and for the extraordinary work they do. HSC Practical Projects The marking of practical components of some HSC courses began last week with Industrial Technology, Drama and Language students presenting work. We have included photographs of the Industrial Technology projects in a previous newsletter and they certainly looked impressive all set up for the visiting examiners last Tuesday. It was very pleasing to receive a very positive letter of appreciation from a parent acknowledging the hard work and dedication of the class teacher, Mr Chris Gladys, and the work of the other TAS (Technical Applied Studies) teachers, especially Mr Brent Smith, in supervising and assisting the students to complete their major projects. Drama performances were completed on Thursday under the supervision of Mrs Shultz and with assistance from some of our junior students both as performers and as an audience. The examiners commented positively on the students and acknowledged the organisation of the teacher. Congratulations to both Mrs Shultz and the Drama students. We eagerly await their results. Chinese language exams were held on Saturday in our Language Centre and from all accounts our students performed quite well. Again we won’t know how well they actually performed until the results arrive in the school during December. Thank you to Ms Georgina Cunich for her work in preparing our students for the speaking component of the exams. Sept 2 Pri.
