Welcome! Dear Madrich (male) /Macricha (female) , ! I am so excited that you will be part of our M.I.T. Team (madrichim-in-training) this year! By being part of this team you are giving back to your Temple Sholom community and being a role model for our younger students. You will gain skills in leadership, conict-resolution, education techniques, educational technology...and you will have fun! ! Madrichim means “guides” in Hebrew. You will be helping to guide our students, our parents and our teachers as you perform the role(s) of teaching assistant, tutor, specialty leader (music, technology, etc.), ofce assistant, photographer, videographer or technology “expert”. The work you do will be invaluable as you help our students, our classes and our programs run smoothly. ! Being a madrich/madricha is a paid professional position. As a professional in our school you have responsibilities which include regular attendance at school and participation in learning seminars/workshops. Our seminars/ workshops include teaching techniques, classroom management, tutoring skills, working with special-needs students and planning fun and engaging lessons. ! I am sure that you still have many questions about your role, duties and so much more. Please read through this handbook to nd many of the answers...and jot down any other questions you have. I will try to answer them at our opening workshop on Wednesday, September 5, 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm at Temple Sholom. ! You have been selected to be a member of the M.I.T. Team because you have demonstrated all of the skills that I believe will make you a fabulous leader, role-model, and team member. I am looking forward to learning with you, laughing with you, and serving as a mentor during the coming year. ! Lori ! !
