Oundle School’s Music Department could not be at a more exciting stage: the building is about to have a three-year rolling programme of decoration and refurbishment unleashed. Our work oers a formidable line-up, with some 900 instrumental music lessons, 120 academic lessons and 36 ensembles being nurtured each week by some 45 visiting music teachers and 10 full-time sta. As for the 2014-15 concert line-up, we hope you will agree there is much to appeal here: you are most welcome to aend any of these events. Throughout the year, we have ensured that an opportunity exists for every one of our musicians to get on stage and perform as a soloist and in our ensembles. All performances are open to the public and no booking is required. May the joys of music be shared! Quentin Thomas, Director of Music We are extremely fortunate to have such a beautiful instrument at the heart of our School, built by Frobenius of Denmark in 1984 with the inaugural recital given by Carlo Curley in January 1985. James Parsons initiated Oundle International Organ Week in summer 1985. With a concurrent festival programme for the public established from the outset, ‘Organ Week’ soon welcomed up to 60 teenage organists to Oundle each year, engaging an international team of distinguished organists to provide inspirational coaching. The summer organ courses are now run by Oundle for Organists (OFO) with the Oundle International Festival (OIF) under the umbrella of the Oundle Music Trust (OMT) with the training for young organists and the iconic organ at its core. OIF continues as one of the world’s leading providers of organ tuition in a non-competitive environment. OIF students have been extremely successful both in gaining Oxbridge organ scholarships (an average of 85% application success rate), and in performing public recitals at prestigious venues. Through our upcoming concert programme we are celebrating the ne craftsmanship and versatility of the Frobenius, including recitals, duets, concertos, works wrien for Organ and Brass, and the much loved Snowman with Organ and Narrator. We will also be launching our appeal to clean and restore the case and much handled stop heads. The programme culminates early next year when Thomas Troer visits Oundle to oer an Open Masterclass and Recital, preceded by displays and a talk by James Parsons on the design and installation of our Frobenius Organ. Frobenius Organ - celebrating 30 years Welcome
