MS. WESTCOTT FALL 2014 2 Digital Communications Student creativity shines in Digital Communications courses. Students who take CBA and DC1-4 are vocational completers and wear a cord at graduation. Digital Comms I DC1 is Layout & Design. This course focuses on creating professional looking documents using computer software. Students create projects while learning color theory, document layout, typography, and publications. DC1 focuses on desktop publishing. DC3 introduces students to digital media. The course starts with website development; students become web designers and create their own websites. We then move on to audio editing and animation. DC3 focuses on sound. Digital Comms III Digital Comms II DC2 is graphics editing. This course covers camera care, settings, photo techniques, and image editing. Students will take and edit pictures, create graphics, convert files, and create advanced desktop publishing items. DC2 focuses on graphic editing. Digital Comms IV DC4 is video editing. Students learn how to make movies! Incorporating text from DC1, graphics from DC2, and sound from DC3, students plan, produce and edit their own videos. I suggest that students spend time on YouTube (at home) watching music videos and other short videos for ideas of projects that can be completed for class. Students will be able to burn their projects to DVD and keep them at the end of the semester.
