The 2016 Florida Legislative session adjourned on March 11 with both wins and losses for Florida health consumers. While lawmakers failed to close the coverage gap for more than 567,000 Floridians without access to quailty, affordable coverage, the legislature passed laws to protect consumers from surprise medical bills and expanded health coverage for legal immigrant children who had been in the country less than five years. Florida CHAIN compiled a legislative report that summarizes what passed and what failed as it relates to health care during the 60-day legislative session.
