November 13, 2014 Dear Members and Friends of the Long Island City Partnership: Welcome to Long Island City Partnership’s 2014 Annual Luncheon and Trade Show! Each year at this event we celebrate our many and diverse businesses and the remarkable community that the Partnership is fortunate to serve. LIC’s exceptional blend of industrial, commercial, tech, residential and cultural sectors are all building a more dynamic LIC, one that serves as an essential economic driver and source of jobs to local workers, goods and services to New York City, and a broad range of housing alternatives. In the following pages you’ll see some highlights of our work this past year and of the neighborhood today. LICP helped more businesses than ever with access to financing, incentives, workforce training, appropriate space and challenging operational issues. We also worked with NYC DOT’s WalkNYC Program to bring wayfinding signage and print maps to LIC. With added marketing capacity, we’ve greatly expanded our reach and both our e-newsletter and Partnership Perks program are more popular than ever. Membership is up over 50% and more people than ever attended our events. New events such as the community block festival LIC Springs!, the groundbreaking conference “LIC Summit: Perspectives and Prospects”, and Member to Member business seminars all enhanced the value of the LICP to our membership and the community at large. We are honored to have as Keynote Speaker President and CEO of Empire State Development (ESD), Kenneth Adams. ESD plays a vital role in the economic health and diversity of LIC. We are celebrating our business Honorees, K. Thomas Elghanayan, Chairman and CEO, andFrederick Elghanayan, President and CEO, ofTF Cornerstone, Inc., for their pioneering work at Queens West. This year’s recipient of the William D. Modell Award for Community Service, Chairman Joseph Conley of Community Board 2, has been a pivotal figure in LIC and in the Partnership for decades. Today’s event would not be possible without our generous sponsors, all of whom are listed on the next page. Thank you all for making our work possible! Finally, thank you also to the LIC Partnership Board and Staff for their dedication to LIC’s growth. Both have been more active than ever, and together we hope to achieve even more in the year ahead. Our theme for the next year is “Long Island City: Make it Here, Make it Yours” and we are excited to help our many businesses and community members, both new and old, do just that. Thank you for joining us today, and we hope that you will continue to join us throughout the year as we work to make LIC the strongest, and most diverse, that it has ever been.
