The actual image they have used is of a rather seductive nature, with the eyes gazing straight into those of the reader, and the completely expressionless face goes along with this. Having the image like this will more than likely gain the attraction of a few males due to the nature of the pose, and the model herself. The image will also attract female readers as well because back when Blondie were really at their biggest, between the late 70’s and the early 80’s, Debbie Harry was seen as a bit of an icon, in both a fashion sense, and what she did in the music industry. Women will see that she is on the cover and this will perhaps jog something in their memory about their younger days and make them want to pick it up and have a read. The makeup in which Debby is wearing is from the era in which the image was taken and it is of a very bold, eye catching nature, with the thick purple/ blue eyeliner, and the bright pink lipstick. The eyeliner is in the same colour in which her eyes happen to be, which again is probably because it was something that made her stand out at the time. When looking at her clothing, of what we can see, she is wearing a single strap top with what looks to be sequins on the strap itself, along with a small gold necklace. This would be considered quite different from what people would wear now-a-days, but due to Debbie being somewhat of a fashion icon, it wouldn’t be considered unfashionable. It was almost as if they are trying to make a statement that Debby can wear those kinds of clothes, and that she was able to afford clothes that were perhaps more expensive. There isn’t really anything in the sense of props or location, all we have is simply the picture of Debbie on a white background with no props at all. The reason in which they may have done this would have been to keep all focus on Debbie herself, and to not distract anyone away from the fact of who she was. The shot used is a close up, showing only her face and the top of the shoulder line, and the whole of what is being shown of her is in focus. There is a slight fading around the edges of the whole image, but this is perhaps done to give the image a bit of depth to it. The whole image itself was is slightly grainy, and is really rather bright to look at in terms of colouring. They have also used one point of lighting on the left hand side of the model in order to create a slight amount of shadows on the right hand side of her face. The sizing of the fonts used varies throughout the cover, with some of the more important pieces of text being in a bigger, bolder font, this is done to draw attention to the areas in which the producers of the magazine feel are more important. At the mast head of the magazine, we have two more images; these are of upcoming musician Jake Bugg, and David Bowie. The images are in a white box, and then slightly tilted and skewed to give them more of an abstract look. Having these images draws attention to the fact that they have other articles within the magazine about other artists, which is going to interest more people, people that are perhaps not as interested in Blondie. The magazine is most likely going to be aimed at women, the main reason in which I say this is down to the colour scheme used, the white and pink gives off a very girly feel, and the fonts that have been used also give off a girly look.
