It is not a prerequisite that students must have studied Business at GCSE. Why choose to study Business at St Mary’s? A2 Level (Year 13) Topics Strategies for Success - Unit 3: - Exam 25% A level Unit 3 focuses on larger businesses which may be trading in international markets, and how managers might measure the performance of the business. This unit considers functional strategies that larger businesses may adopt to achieve their objectives, including marketing, operational, financial and Human Resource strategies. The Business Environment and Managing Change - Unit 4 - 25% of A level (Pre-release tasks) Unit 4 is designed to be synoptic and draws upon all other units of the specification including the AS units. It considers the relationship between businesses and external factors that can act as catalysts for change, and considers these in relation to a range of businesses. It examines how external factors can impact upon businesses, and the responses they may take. The unit also examines a number of themes which are important in the strategic management of businesses, for example, leadership and corporate culture. Students will consider how businesses can manage change successfully. This unit is studied through a variety of real business contexts to allow students to understand how the impact and response to change varies . Students who successfully complete the course could move on to study for a degree or BTEC Higher Diploma in a related subject such as Business, Management, Human Resources, Marketing, Finance, Law or Accounting. A Business related degree offers excellent employment opportunities in a range of organisations and job roles.
