The Herald I November/December 2014 2 2 STEWARDSHIP Dear Friends, Our Stewardship theme this year is “A Future with Hope” and is based on the Old Testament text rom Jeremiah 29:11-13, which states: “For surely I know the plans I have or you, says the Lord, plans or your welare and not or harm, to give you a uture with hope. Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you. When you search or me, you will fnd me; i you seek me with all your heart.” Hope, as translated rom Hebrew means “thread”. It brings to mind the imagery that our lie is spun out like a continuous cord, a strong cord representing the prospect o a viable uture. It is all about leaving a legacy on earth. This is exactly the right theme or our Stewardship Campaign because it is based on the belie that the uture o PHPC is flled to the brim with thanksgiving or the past and confdence or the uture. Our thanksgiving and confdence comes rom our knowledge o God’s presence and love. Faithul PHPC congregations o the past trusted God and gave o their time, talents, and treasures. Now it is our turn to build on that same momentum going orward so uture PHPC congregants will have a strong oundation on which to continue vital ministries. During the campaign you have heard members o our congregation share personal stories about what PHPC is doing to bring hope to our congregation and the community. Through the generosity o our members, PHPC has achieved phenomenal results over the past years in supporting the needs o our congregation, bettering the lives o people in our community, and preparing our physical acilities to support that work o giving hope. The breadth o the work o our congregation is truly amazing. We trust you will want to enable PHPC to continue and grow its ministries. As promised in Jeremiah 29, God has a plan or PHPC. Our call is to trust in God’s provision or us so that we, too, might leave a strong legacy. To continue the momentum, PHPC depends on the aithul and generous gits o its members. Please prayerully consider your Stewardship pledge or 2015 to insure that PHPC will provide “A Future with Hope”.
