Los Angeles County pros- ecutors said in a statement Monday that 53-year-old Robert John Reitz was charged with misdemeanor counts of driving under the influ- ence of an alcoholic beverage and driving at nearly twice the legal blood-alcohol limit. He could get six months in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted. The singer-actress’ vehicle was stopped at a traffic light in Malibu when a pickup truck hit it from behind. Authorities say Lopez owned the Rolls-Royce carrying her and her two children, but her friend, actress Leah Remini, was driving. No one was injured in the Sep- tember crash. Reitz is scheduled to be arraigned later Monday. CAIRO (AP) — Egypt on Sunday said it banned Ridley Scott’s biblical epic “Exodus: Gods & Kings” because the Hollywood blockbuster distorts Egypt’s history and pres- ents a “racist” image of Jews. The Culture Ministry explained its decision for the first time in a statement issued a few days after the ban was announced. It said the film put forth a reading of Egypt’s history that is at odds with the story of Moses told by the world’s monotheistic reli- gions. Egypt is a conservative country with a Muslim majority and a sizable Christian minority. Censors objected to the “intentional gross historical fallacies that offend Egypt and its phar- aonic ancient history in yet another attempt to Judaize Egyptian civilization, which confirms the international Zionist fingerprints all over the film,” the statement said. The ministry said the movie inaccurately depicts ancient Egyptians as “savages” who kill and hang Jews, arguing that hanging did not exist in ancient Egypt. today’s quiz Isaac Asimov’s Super Quiz Subject: FILM QUOTES Name the character who delivered the line.
