A nice straight finishing with character: the Lesung furniture! It’s untreated light-coloured teak wood with a straight smooth finishing. The wood is polished completely light-coloured and smooth, which makes its natural look come to the fore. Where does the name Lesung come from? A Lesung is a real old Javanese rice pounder made from teak wood. These are available in small but also very big formats. Nowadays they are used less often and that’s what makes them ideal material for the most beautiful furniture! A smoothly finished teak plank, but still recycled. This doesn’t mean that all smoothly finished teak furniture is automatically made of plantation teak wood! 80-90% of our furniture is made of old recycled teak. The light-coloured teak is smooth and evenly polished. Need more information? Drop by our store or have a look at our website!
Sometimes furniture is allowed to look just a little more robust and rough. If that’s the case, brushed teak can be a very nice finishing. Brushed teak is also called Kasar. The teak wood is treated with steal brushes; this is done by hand or semi-automatically. Because of this treatment the softer parts of the wood get brushed out, which gives the wood a nice rough look. Like the name says – Old brushed – this furniture is made of old teak wood. This beautiful old teak wood stems from Central Java, Indonesia. The combination of old teak wood and the brushed finishing make sure that every piece of furniture has its own character and is the centre piece of any interior decoration! In this line you have the choice between a beautiful robust table, but also diverse wardrobes, living room tables and other pieces of furniture. Also the pieces in the collection are often combined, so you should also have a look at the Lesung and Dingklik furniture! Or if you are looking for a unique or eye-catching piece, choose one from the Harbour collection. Need more information? Drop by our store or have a look at our website!
http://sourenmeubels.nl/ | http://teakmoebel.com/ Apart from the teak furniture for inside the house, in the spring and summer you can also find teak wood garden furniture in our store. We don’t have an enormous showroom, but you do have the choice from the most beautiful garden tables, chairs, benches and a lot more! The teak garden furniture is made from sustainable teak wood and has a very solid construction. The wood stems from the plantations created by the Indonesian government or is made from old reclaimed teak wood. Wood is a natural product, thin cracks are entirely normal in teak garden furniture. When constructing the furniture we make sure that the wood can expand optimally and so that there won’t be any problems in the future! Teak wood’s natural colour is golden-brown. When teak is left outside in the sun and rain, it develops a beautiful shade of grey over time. You can prevent this from happening by treating the wood with oil, which doesn’t mean that this will make the furniture last longer. If you treat the wood this means that you’ll have to repeat this regularly in future. If you want the teak wood to have a natural look, we advise you to clean it with lukewarm water and soft soap! http://sourenmeubels.nl | http://teakmoebel.com | http://sourenfurniture.com The Dingklik furniture is made of old and recycled teak wood and has a very nice weathered look. Each table or wardrobe has its own unique character and can be easily combined with any interior decoration. In Indonesian Dingklik means wooden stool. Earlier these old stools and benches were transformed into beautiful weathered tables, hence the name Dingklik for this collection! Where does all the old wood come from – except from the stools? About 30,000,000 people live in Central Java (Jawa Tengah) alone. The whole island of Java has more than 110,000,000 inhabitants! Wooden houses and buildings are being dismantled and stone buildings are built in their place. Imagine old beams sawed off in the middle to make monastery tables or old doors and floor boards being used for living room tables and TV tables. Need more information? http://sourenmeubels.nl | http://teakmoebel.com | http://sourenfurniture.com The Harbour collection is a collection with a very unique and proper character. Maybe you are wondering what scrap wood is and where it comes from? Our furniture is made of scrap wood that stems from Central Java, Indonesia. The wood that we’re using is always recycled teak wood. The difference as opposed to the Dingklik furniture is that the Harbour collection still has some paint residue on the furniture! For each piece of furniture the planks with the paint residue are searched and combined. This means that no two pieces of furniture are the same and every single piece is unique!
