Who Founded It Virginia was founded in 1607 by the Virginia Company. The Virginia Company was a group of people that wanted to establish settlements in North America. Family Life and Customs In Virginia the family life and customs were like most places, boys did the hard work and girls did the work around the house. In some families they had slaves do most of the work. The wealthier people were custom to slaves doing their work. Poor people were accustomed to doing the work themselves. The hard work was considered work around the fields. Work around the house was cooking, making cloths, and cleaning cloths.
