Dear Friend, The 2013-2014 program year has been an incredible year o learning, growth and meeting milestones to achieve our mission to educate and engage youth to learn, work and thrive as responsible global citizens in the 21st century. We could not have accomplished this without the generous support o our donors and partners. I’m proud to highlight a ew o our achievements over the last year: In an eort to provide the highest quality programming, we combined the most successul components o our Media & Arts Program and our World Savvy Challenge program to create a merged youth program: World Savvy Classrooms. The merged program combined high-impact coaching or educators with project-based learning or students, which allows them to direct their own learning and exploration o complex community and global issues. While educators still selected to participate in either the Media & Arts pathway or Challenge pathway, they also benefted rom a comprehensive program that was enhanced to build global competence, oer teachers opportunities to embed global themes into classroom discourse, and prepare students to become inormed global leaders. This last school year, World Savvy Classrooms reached 40 schools, 72 educators and 3,287 students . We’ve recently welcomed back student and educator cohorts rom our three American Youth Leadership Programs this summer! During the month o June, 18 students and 2 educators spent a month in Peru, traveling through various parts o the country studying nutrition and food security . In addition, our collaboration with University o Minnesota sent students rom Apple Valley, Minnesota to Costa Rica or 3 weeks, ocusing on sustainable systems and the impacts of globalization . Finally, in our frst in-bound program, 16 Haitian students came to San Francisco to join 8 Bay Area students in both San Francisco and Washington, D.C. during the month o it opens up DiFFerent perspectives about what is going on in the worlD, anD because oF that, it prepares us More. – Twin Cities student World Savvy serves a network of more than and reaches more than 2,200 eDucators 375,000 stuDents
