The SLO will cover standard 1-15 of the Ohio Academic Content Statements for World History. These topics include: Historical Thinking and Skills Primary Sources, Secondary Sources, Credibility Analyze cause, effect sequence and causation through historical investigation Major time periods: Age of Enlightenment, Age of Revolutions, Imperialism, Achievements and Crisis, World War I, Russian Revolution, Totalitarianism and the impact of appeasement on World War II Assessment(s) What assessment(s) will be used to measure student growth for this SLO? Assessment contains 25 multiple choice questions and 12 points of free response essay questions. The written portion of the exam will focus on Historical Thinking and Skills and Imperialism-Colonizers and Colonized. The distribution of questions was evaluated by a teacher team and the amount of time dedicated to each content statements. All of the questions on the assessment will evaluate higher order thinking skills based on Bloom's Taxonomy- Applying, Analyzing, Evaluation and Creating. This will allow for each student to show growth. Any student who has an IEP will receive accommodations, as dened on his or her IEP. Growth Target(s) Considering all available data and content requirements, what growth target(s) can students be expected to reach? Growth will be measured by comparing the April post assessment to the pre-assessments results. I have set tiered growth targets for my students. Students' score on the pre-assessment determine their growth target for the post- assessment. Across grade levels, content areas, and coursed, the school district has attempted to apply a "gap closing" formula in the identication of growth targets. 1. Total Assessment Point Value- Student Score/2= Gap Closing Measure 2. Gap Closing Measure + Student Score = Growth Target Rationale for Growth Target(s) What is your rationale for setting the above target(s) for student growth within the interval of instruction? I set tiered targets to help ensure that all students will be able to demonstrate developmentally appropriate growth. The gap closing formula being utilized in the instruct loosely mimics the Ohio Department of Education's rationale behind the Annual Measurable Objectives component of the Local Report Card. Finally, the district is focusing on college and career readiness. This SLO focuses on students' problem solving skills, communication of knowledge gained, which are all key skills needed for college and career.
