Do Now Thinking about the Core Practices on the right, brainstorm one success and one challenge you are having in your classroom since our first PD session on Number Strings. • Teach Towards an Instructional Goal – Is there a goal present? – Is the goal introduced in a student-friendly way? – Are problems and questions aligned to instructional goal? – Does the teacher ask linking questions? • Orient Students to Content – Does string start with low barrier to entry question? – Does the board work help students understand content? – Does teacher incorporate student voice? – Are models used, if appropriate?
