Lisa Russ (Director of Fun) is originally a Chicagoan. Lisa moved from Kansas City back to Chicago five years ago with her employer of almost 14 years, CBIZ Benefits & Insurance Services . CBIZ provides integrated business services, primarily benefits consulting & accounting/tax advisory, to small and medium sized businesses nationwide. Since joining Rotary/One in the spring of 2002, Lisa has held the following roles with the Club: liaison to our Lincoln Park High School Interact Club (2002-present); Gala Committee (2004,2005); Editor of the Gyrator (2004-2005); Co-Chair of the Children's RIC Christmas Party (2005); and Director of Communications (2005-2006). Lisa is a Kansas Jayhawk and a University of Missouri-Kansas City Rooster. Both undergraduate and graduate degrees are in English because reading is a top favorite activity. She also enjoys singing with the DePaul Community Chorus in concerts throughout Chicago. Jana Fleming, Ph.D., (Director of Int'l Service) is currently the Executive Director of Child Development Studies at City Colleges of Chicago , the largest urban community college system in the nation. Her position is funded by the McCormick Tribune Foundation with the goal of enhancing early childhood teacher education associate degree programs across six community colleges in Chicago. Prior to joining City Colleges, Jana spent 15 years at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Research Investigator at the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute. In her professional work, she has a strong commitment to the development of policies and practices aimed at improving educational experiences for young children. Over the years she has served on numerous professional boards and commissions that addressed these issues. Apart from her involvement with Rotary, Jana's current community service includes serving on the Board of Trustees of the Union League Boys and Girls Clubs and the Union League Civic and Arts Foundation. Jana holds a law degree from Duke University and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to her position at City Colleges, Jana directs grant making in early childhood education for the Joyce Foundation. Karla Mitchell (Secretary) is a corporate attorney at DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary LLP . She began her legal career as a corporate associate at Winston & Strawn LLP in 2001 before moving to DLA Piper in 2005. Karla practices corporate and securities law, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, commercial transactions, reorganizations, recapitalizations and general business advice. She represents companies and investors in various transactions and advises clients on corporate, commercial and contract law, shareholder relations and corporate governance. Karla's experience includes both domestic and international transactions and clients.
