2013 had a chilly start, with a prolonged cold snap giving below average temperatures and even snow into April and May this year, meaning that life on the water was uninviting for longer than normal. However, by the summer months we were back to in full swing and the Club still managed to deliver a full programme of challenging activities for local children and young people throughout the year, with attendances and activity levels continuing to be high. The Youth Club continues to be the heart of the Club - where children and young people attend and participate throughout the year, enjoying canoeing, kayaking, trips away, and a host of other activities. We have a Youth Watersports Training Project that enables young people to gain coaching qualifications and job opportunities in watersports; the very busy Inclusion Project ensuring that all the Club's services are accessed and used by children and young people with disabilities; kayak courses and environmental study days for local schools; an extensive programme of activities for Bridge Academy students from next door ; narrowboat trips for youth, community, education and welfare groups from around the borough; and much more. This is all made possible through the efforts of a dedicated staff and volunteer team; the generosity and support of our partners and donors (including the local authority LB Hackney); and the enthusiasm, energy and application of the young people themselves. Many, many thanks to everyone, and we look forward to an exciting and productive 2014. Jim Armstrong Club Co-ordinator INTRODUCTION
