look out your window,” he said mysteriously. I looked through my window, only to see him standing out front with his truck. I ran out of the door and met up with him. “Wow. You.. you look,” he stuttered. “I look … ?” I asked curiously. “You look beautiful,” he answered. I could feel my face blush, but I held back, on behalf of embarrassment. As we got in his truck, we backed up out of my driveway and started down the road. “So, tell me what its like being.. you know, blind,” he asked. “Well, it um, it sucks. I will never know what its like to stare into a boys eyes, and I will never be able to see anything great in life,” I replied with a sigh. “Well, as long as you’re with me, I promise I will keep you happy,” he said with a slight smile. I smiled back, and set my eyes back on the road. We got out of his truck, and entered the fro-yo shop. I ordered my favorite: aloha pineapple while he ordered plain vanilla. “So, tell me about yourself,” he questioned. “Well, I’m blind, I love family and friends, I’m 16 and I like fro-yo aha,” I answered. “Tell me about yourself,” I questioned. “Well I also love family and friends, I love fro-yo too and.. well I have a small tumor in my brain, and I’m going to go and get surgery tomorrow,” I nodded and said that I would come. “Well, if you’d like I guess.” We approached his car, and began to drive back to my house. “And, here we are,” he said. “Well, thank you for an amazing night, and thanks for paying for my fro-yo,” I replied. Before I left he tapped me on the shoulder and hugged me. “Bye,” I said. He replied and we parted. The next morning I got dressed and got my mom to do my makeup. I hopped into my moms car as she drove me to the hospital to meet Chase. I walked into his room and watched them hook him up. “So, how you doing?” I asked. “I’m good, and a little nervous,” he replied. I watched as he closed his eyes and got ready to go to sleep. I watched them stick the needle in him, and he was out. Hours passed until we left to go back home. By the time we got back we had to go to bed. I closed my eyes and couldn’t stop thinking about Chase. I had a sick feeling in my stomach. As if there was a pit in the bottom of my stomach. I just thought positive and went to sleep. I heard my alarm ring and I got up. I looked at my alarm to put it to snooze, but it turns out it wasn’t my alarm, it was my phone. I looked at it and saw it was a call from the hospital. I answered my phone and heard someone crying in the background. “Hi, Fallon speaking,” I replied. “Hello, this is Dianne from the Morrison Valley Hospital, I was just calling to let you know that Chase died this morning at 1:26am … we are deeply sorry for your loss,” the nurse replied. I stood frozen. My feet numb, my face cold, I felt like I couldn’t move. I dropped the phone and broke out in tears. “Why … ,” I murmured. “Why Chase,” I shouted in disbelief.
