I would like to thank the hard-work- ing Oregon Logging Conerence Board o Directors and sta, or without their diligence, creativity, and leadership, this show would not be the success that it is, and that we have all come to expect. I would also like to thank the olks who make the conerence possible, and those are the men and women who represent all o the equipment manuacturers, dealers, and exhibitors. It is their con- tinued presence at the West’s premier equipment show that provides the many venues you will experience at this year’s conerence. Please spend time with the exhibitors and thank them or attend- ing; ater all, they are there or you. It has been a very tough year or our industry, and some experts believe this slump will continue through 2008. But what looms as an even bigger prob- lem, is our ability to attract and retain key personnel necessary to continue this country’s dominance in the orest products industry. As oresters, log- gers, equipment manuacturers, deal- ers, and mill manuacturers, we need to mentor those individuals who will be the uture employees o this industry. This year, bring along those employees you eel are going to be the leaders o your company — the ones you look to, to continue the traditions o our indus- try. Take them around; introduce them to equipment dealers and exhibitors as well as your contemporaries. This year’s conerence starts o on Wednesday evening with registration and the Meet and Greet, with hosted cocktails at the Hilton Hotel. Come see old riends and the exceptional items on display or Friday night’s Oregon Women in Timber auction. This spe- cial mentoring relationship gives chil- dren the consistent support they need to learn to read at a crucial time in their development.
