From the Rabbi With summer now upon us, I hope you are enjoying a more leisurely pace o lie, and perhaps even a vacation or two! Notwithstanding the summer slowdown, in just a ew short months, our highest membership season will be here. Statistics show that most people shop or and join synagogues in the months and weeks leading up to the high holidays. It is also, by the way, when they tend to resign their memberships. The Har Shalom sta, clergy, and membership volunteers pursue every possible lead, ollow-up assiduously with those who have expressed even an inkling o interest, and work hard to connect with prospective members. But we can’t do it without you! You are our connection to a much wider pool o uture Har Shalom members. You may also know o members who are disaected or unsatised. Consider yourselves ambassadors, recruiters, missionaries, customer service representatives, salespeople, whatever! Please talk up Har Shalom and all the positive momentum we are experiencing. Let us know i there are people we can reach out to or who would appreciate some extra TLC. Our eorts to attract more people to Har Shalom are not or the purposes o lining our coers or bragging about how many amilies we have on our roster. The purpose o membership recruitment is that we believe we have important, relevant, lie-changing Torah to share; because we have a warm, loving congregation and a unique conduit to God, spirituality, and Jewish tradition to oer this community. I you believe, as I do, that Har Shalom occupies a special niche o our Jewish community; and that our approach to Jewish lie Dearest Friends... is unique and proound, then please join me in welcoming other people to experience it. Help me and the Har Shalom sta bring Torah and vibrant Jewish lie to people who are searching or a connection and a community. I you know a neighbor, a riend, a relative, or a co-worker who is seeking a congregation to afliate with, I hope you will direct them to Har Shalom. Don’t be deterred i they say they’re not “Conservative,” or they are intermarried, or they aren’t observant, etc. We welcome everyone who wants to explore Jewish lie with us! I am happy to call anyone; meet anyone or a cup o coee; even invite them to my home or a Shabbas meal. However, I need you to be my partner in this sacred outreach. Finally, I want to express my deep appreciation to the Board o Directors and to the entire congregation or the condence you have placed in me as your Rav . I am excited or all that we will accomplish together as we look orward to the next ten years. May we be blessed to rejoice in many s’mahot (happy occasions), and to share in all o lie’s sacred moments together. Thank you dear riends... warm wishes or a rejuvenating summer! Remember, we’re open all year long! L’shalom, Rabbi Raskin Rabbi Adam J. Raskin “ ...we believe we have important, relevant, life-changing Torah to share; because we have a warm, loving congregation and a unique conduit to God, spirituality, and Jewish tradition to offer this community.
