2 A CADEMIC R EQUIREMENTS To meet the prescribed requirements set forth by the North Central Association, the Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association, the State of Ohio Department of Education, The Diocese of Toledo, and St. Ursula Academy, and also to help students select a proper sequence of courses, the following information, requirements and suggestions are listed: COLLEGE PREP CORE COURSEWORK * Exceeds State Minimum Subject Unit Requirements Unit Breakdown Business 1.0 unit 0.5 Personal Finance 0.5 Contemporary Computer Skills English Language Arts 4.5 units* 1.0 unit each grade 0.5 unit Writing Well or Composition Fine Arts 1.0 unit Health 0.5 Mathematics 4.0 units 1.0 unit each grade Must take 1.0 unit Algebra II Physical Education 0.5 unit Science 3.0 units 1.0 unit Biology 1.0 unit Chemistry 1.0 unit other (Physics recommended) Social Studies 3.0 units 1.0 unit World History 1.0 unit American History 1.0 unit American Government Theology 4.0 units 1.0 unit each grade World Languages 2.0 units (3-4 strongly recommended) Minimum 2.0 units in same World Language Electives To complete schedule In addition to completing the core courses outlined above, students must meet the following requirements: 1. All students are required to pass all five sections (Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Writing) of the Ohio Graduation Test (OGT). 2. Students must complete 60 hours of service to the community under the direction of the Campus Ministry Department. Twenty hours are due at the end of freshman, sophomore, and junior years. 3. Students must successfully complete the Career Exploration Experience by August preceding the Senior year. 4. Any student expecting to graduate from St. Ursula Academy must attend high school a total of four years beyond eighth grade. 5. All students must apply to a two or four year post-secondary institution by October 1 of the Senior year.
