CHAPTER 1 HISTORY OF SINGAPORE Have you ever thought about some BIG moments in Singapore history? Well here you go! Singapore wasn’t originally called Singapore. It was actually called Singapura and it was a tiny island of the coast of Malaysia so it was from Malaysia. A british man named Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles found the tiny island and therefore put it under british government. A few years later Japan decided to invade singapura and make the island their territory. In conclusion of that war Japan had singapura under their territory. But after Japan lost world war 2 they gave back singapura to the british. After a pretty long time with the british singapura felt like it was time they would be independent. But the british said no. So there was a lot of talking however the british finally said yes and then there started singapore.
