“I love you too. Everything is going to be okay. I promise.” That day consisted of Castiel crying, Dean comforting him, and a silent dinner. They both woke up that morning scared out of their senses. Of course, Dean would never admit to being scared about the draft to Cas. He had to stay strong. He shouldn’t cry in front of him. No, he couldn’t cry in front of him. “Dean, what if” Castiel Started. “Don’t.” He cut him off and Cas shook his head. Dean’s throat felt tight, but he couldn’t cry in front of Cas. Not right now. “I’m not going anywhere. I’m not going to leave you.” “But you could get drafted today! Does that really mean nothing to you?” “No It doesn’t, I won’t get drafted there’s nothing to worry about I promise.” Castiel glared at Dean as he stalked out of their bedroom to the couch. They both sat side by side on the couch. Listening to the man call out birthdays then numbers. Everything went blank when the man called out Dean’s birthday. Then 59. Neither of them said anything about it being below a hundred. Dean got up and walked to the window and, without making a sound he pulled out a cigarette. Leaning on the windowsill, watching the traffic below him. Castiel walked into the kitchen flicking the light on, there was a quiet buzz. Maybe the wiring needed fixing. Or they just needed a new lightbulb. The T.V was still on in the other room. Calling out numbers. He blinked as he opened the refrigerator and pulled out the coffee creamer. Soon enough the creamer was on the floor. Spilled. Castiel went to his knees after he grabbed some paper towel. “Cas” Dean walked in the kitchen. “It’s fine I just dropped it.” “Stop.” Dean’s voice cracked.Cas scrubbed harder trying to clean everything up. “Cas, stop” “It’s fine,” He answered. “It’s fine. It’s ok.” Dean leaned down to take the towels out of his hand, but Cas wasn’t done yet. “Dean just go sit down. I’ve got it.” Dean placed his hands on his shoulders and forced him upright. Castiel’s blue eyes filled with worry and fear. “Baby, you have to hold it together.” Dean hushed, rubbing his shoulders. “Don’t get upset.” “I’m fine.” Cas choked trying to get up. His pants were soaked with creamer, He’d have to clean them tonight. Dean stood up with Cas, and hugged him. Rocking back and forth. Finally Dean let himself go and wept. He wept because he’d have to leave Cas to fight in Vietnam. They wept into eachothers shoulders for hours untill they couldn’t cry anymore. The creamer still soaking the wooden floor as they stood their silent. Dean didn’t know what to say. He was going to volunteer just to get it over with. After all, boys go over and come back everyday. Why would Dean be any different. Cas kneels back to the ground cleaning up the remaining creamer.
