幹杯 gānbēi: drinking, business, and gender in New China This is an autoethnographic account from a trip to China in November, 2013; exploring a combination of my own perceptions and experiences of Chinese drinking culture and the perceptions of my new-found Chinese friends. How does the latest generation of females entering China’s workforce plan to navigate a male-dominated business world - a world where drinking culture and business culture are sometimes indistinguishable? What are their experiences and perceptions around business drinking culture and their career aspirations?
