Unortunately, accidents and mishaps can happen on the water. I one involves your boat, your insurance can make all the dierence. Unlike automobile insurance, boat insurance is not required in every state. Any boat that is motor-driven, partially or wholly, and used on public waterways must be registered in New York. Some boat trailers are also required to be registered. I you nanced your boat, the lending institution may require you to have boat insurance. Boat owners should at least carry liability insurance, which covers you or any damage you may cause to someone’s property or i you cause an injury to someone else. I you want protection or your own boat — including insurance or permanently attached equipment, any boating equipment and accessories, outboard motors and boat trailers — you need to carry physical damage coverage, as well. Other coverage options to consider: • Uninsured boater’s protection that covers insured boaters i they are involved in an accident with an uninsured boater. • Medical payments coverage that covers injuries sustained on a boat. • Emergency services coverage , which reimburses you or the cost o on-water towing, labor and emergency services, such as delivery o uel, oil or a loaned battery. • Fishing equipment coverage to pay or loss or damage to shing equipment while on board or while being carried o a boat. Walsh Dueld has been conducting one-hour interactive lunch and learns or over eight years or our clients. The program is designed to educate a company’s employees about their auto, homeowners and other personal insurance policies. Our Goal The goal o this program is to assist your employees in making intelligent choices when it comes to their personal insurance coverage. We will help them to under- stand the dierent types o coverage that make up insurance policies and to answer questions they may have. What is Included in the Program? This program includes a 45-minute inter- active presentation with a complimentary lunch. We also oer one-on-one meetings or employees to address individual concerns. These usually take place two to three days ater the presentation. What Your Employees Will Learn • The dierence in liability oerings, including split versus combined single limit; • How no-ault Personal Injury Protection coverage works and what their limit options are; • How uninsured/underinsured coverage works; • Details about homeowners policies, such as that sump pump overfow/ sewage backup coverage is not auto- matically included and the policies may also limit their jewelry coverage; and • What an umbrella policy is.
