Cockadoodledoo! "Why is there a rooster in my room," Lizzie shouted. Then she remembered. A few days ago she had moved to the farm in Illinois. She wished more than anything that she was back in New York City with Jill. If she had a choice, she never would have moved but her dad had a job option he would never get again. The only good thing about the move is that her parents had promised to get her a dog. Lizzie jumped out of bed, quickly washed up and ran downstairs. Her mom and dad were sitting down waiting for her. "Ready to go Liz?" her dad asked while looking up from the paper. "You bet I am," Lizzie exclaimed. In just 10 minutes, they arrived at the SPCA. After about an hour, Lizzie had found the right dog. He was healthy, playful, and gentle. His only problem was he was as ugly as a vampire’s blood hound. His fur was the color of mud and he had a big bald spot on his back. " I want this one," Lizzie said. Her parents said, " Are you sure? He's so ugly." " I'm sure. He's gentle and playful. I like him." Her parents looked at each other. " It's your choice honey," they said. 5 minutes later, Lizzie had named the dog Spike, adopted the dog, and was driving it home. As soon as the GPS said," You have arrived at your destination" Lizzie leaped out of the car." This is your new home," she exclaimed. Then she gave him a tour of the house. Towards the end of the tour, Lizzie showed him her room. Spike seemed to understand that this was where he would be sleeping. Before she knew what was happening, he jumped on the bed and peed on it. "Hey," Lizzie exclaimed, " Why did you pee on my bed? Pee on your bed instead." Spike woofed happily. Lizzie quickly ran downstairs and yelled," Mom, Spike peed on my bed." What?" asked Mrs. Bracker, who was unpacking boxes. "Spike peed on my bed," Lizzie said impatiently. "OK! Let's go clean that up and start potty training that dog!" Mrs. Bracker exclaimed. At that moment, Spike bounded down the stairs. He had an expression on his face that 2 seemed to say " What did I miss?". Then he started circling around as if he had to go poo. Lizzie's mom shouted, "Lizzie, go get a treat." 2
