Outline Introductory video clip: Beethoven’s Wig Main Activity: Divide students into cooperative learning groups of 3 or 4. Each group will be assigned one iPad and will utilize Socrative to complete this activity. Each group will collaborate to formulate study guide questions for review. They will formulate 3 questions about Ludwig van Beethoven for each the following categories including: his life, his characteristics, and his symphonies. Students will be able access this study guide at home to review for the unit test. Describe roles of each student contributor. All students will engage in group discussion, centered around learning objectives as described above. All students will collaborate to formulate their own review questions, centered around learning objectives as described above, and brainstorm possible multiple choice responses. Each student will take at least two turns using the iPad to enter a question and set of multiple choice responses proposed by the group. Each student group will submit a “Beethoven Study Guide Quiz” with nine questions and possible responses. Conclusion: Commend students for their collaborative work. By collaborating and working together, you have created a fabulous learning tool to assess your knowledge on Beethoven. At our next class session, after I have reviewed all quizzes submitted from each group, I will provide instructions to each of you to access and take another group’s quiz of the same material. You may access your own quiz from home to study for your peer’s quiz! Students will choose one of their fellow classmates’ socrative quiz for their final assessment at the next class session.
