Jacob Wall com- peted and earned his silver medal in the automotive collision repair division which took place over two days at the competi- tion. School career coun- sellor Michelle Hughes said Wall was an excellent ambas- sador or his school, school district and province. It wasn’t just his trade that he excelled at, but also his character. “During the compe- tition I had several people who were in- volved in the event coming over and tell- ing me what a great person Jacob is,” said a proud Hughes. “He just showed great character.” Wall is currently taking the Auto body ACE I program o- ered by the school district through Van- couver Community College and was re- cently apprenticed by Salmon Arm Frame and Body Shop. He plans on urthering his education dur- ing his Grade 12 year by taking Level 2 at Okanagan College. Mark Pennell, owner o the shop, Doreen Wong, Van- couver Community College instructor, Lee Bouchard, indus- try mentor and Mi- chelle Hughes, career co-ordinator at For- tune, all worked with Wall to prepare him or this competition. “T is is a top-notch example o the way industry, post- secondary and the school district can work together to give our students some excellent learning and training experi- ence,” said district career supervisor and Fortune’s vice-princi- pal Mark Marino. Hughes said the competition was very close, and the marks had to be recounted beore it was deter- mined that Kevin Disterhof rom Manitoba, had just edged Wall or rst. T e bronze medal went to Jeremy Les- sard o Quebec. Fortune student brings home automotive silver ENDERBY/AREA F Body work. Jacob Wall from A.L.
