St Andrew’s Church of England Primary School • 3 2 St Andrew’s Church of England Primary School History The School was started as a Dame’s School in the 19th Century and a small red-brick school was later built on land donated by the Lord o the Manor o Totteridge in 1837. The majority o the present structure replaced this building in 1939 and a urther three classrooms were added in 1952. One o the Managers, Mr. George Kemp, the biscuit magnate and Lord o the Manor in 1939, donated the hall which is part o the School and bears his name. Our School St Andrew’s is a small, one orm entry, Church o England school situated in the borough o Barnet. The school is sited adjacent to Totteridge common and in the heart o residential housing. As a church school, we have very close links with St. Andrew’s Church. This is just a short walk rom the School. The Vicar takes Assembly at School once a week. At St Andrew’s we oer children a balanced education in a supportive and riendly atmosphere. We recognise that each child is an individual and will bring their own special experiences when they start school. Working closely with parents we seek to identiy and nurture your child’s ull potential. The main dierence as a Voluntary Aided School is in respect to capital expenditure. We only receive 90% o capital allocations and the Governors o the school have to fnd a urther 10% or every capital project undertaken to improve the school.
