2 Our Philosophy and Aims At The Russell School we are proud of our children's positive attitude and enthusiasm for learning. All staff strive to encourage creativity and build on individual strengths to ensure that all children make outstanding progress and flourish to their full potential. Innovative and reflective teaching provides inspiration and challenge for all children. A strong ethos of happiness and well being underpins the curriculum and creates a learning environment, which is safe and secure, grounded in supportive structures and relationships. This enables our pupils to develop confidence in their own capacity to face the challenges of the wider world and to become life long learners. We pride ourselves on the exceptional behaviour and high achievement of all our pupils and we value the strong links we have with our families and local community. We facilitate the children's development into responsible citizens and place a strong emphasis on teaching them the importance of looking after the world. The School Day Children should arrive punctually, no earlier than 8:45. Children are to remain on the playground and line up when the whistle blows at 8.55am. On wet days the teacher on duty will blow the whistle at 8:45am and pupils will be allowed into school at this earlier time. Class registration takes place at 8:55am every day. Any pupil who arrives after this time must report to the School Office, If your child has to leave school early the Office must be told when they leave. Lunch is between 12:00 to 1:00pm for Reception / KS1 pupils and 12.15 to 1.15pm for KS2 pupils. School ends at 3:15pm , when pupils are met in the school playground by their parents/carers. If you are unable to arrive in time to meet your child, please let the School Office know as soon as possible. If your child stays to an after-school activity please make sure that he/she does not have to walk home alone. We require a completed consent form for any child attending a club or who has permission to walk home without an adult. Children are not permitted to play in the playground or on the field after school and must leave the premises immediately. Parking and Use of the School Car Park Please do not use the school car park at any time during the day. Main Gates For the safety of ALL children, we would request that NO PARKING takes place on the yellow lines between the Brushwood Drive roundabout and the school gate. NO TURNING OR PARKING is allowed within the school grounds during the school day. Back Gate - Blacketts Wood Drive Cars must be parked on the school side of the road in the mornings and on the opposite side at lunchtime and at 3.15pm.
