We interviewed Mrs. Miller who is a teacher at Foster. She has been teaching kids with special needs for ten years. We asked her if she had any difficulties, and she said, “Yeah, that’s why we’re here. All kids have differ- ent problems and differ- ent needs.” She told us that, “I love it, it’s never boring and I’m tired at the end of the day, but happy, too.” What inspired her to en- ter education was kind of an accident, but it hap- pened because her job working at a hotel did not last because it closed down. Now, working with kids with special needs has changed her way of life to be more grateful, and to take advantage of life’s op- portunities, Miller added. Her normal day is getting up at 5:30 and at school by 7:30. Alex, an 8 th grade student at Foster, said he enjoys attending Foster because he gets to use technology and learn in different set- tings. Alex enjoys science. “I like science because I like to dissect frogs.” Alex spends part of his day at Foster and part of his day at Frank. Alex enjoys the teaching styles at both campuses because they help him learn more about his pas- sions — video games and science. Alex’s average day is waking up at 6:15, get- ting ready for school, then buckling down for a day of working, learning and a bit of fun in his classes. He is excited about starting high school in August. Easy After school Snacks (nom, nom)
