Top security personnel meet daily to review the day’s events and Hello amilies, Two months ago, on Sept. 4, we opened the door on a new era in public education in America– the Education Achievement Authority o Michigan (EAA). The goal we outlined at the time was to radically transorm public education by putting an end to “one size f ts all” education. To achieve this, we develop a unique education plan or each individual student, assure that students progress only as they master a subject and provide a longer school year to give children more time to learn. No longer will students be moved on just because they have spent nine months sitting in a chair. They will move on when they master a particular subject. strategize on ways to prevent incidents. EAA students who are detained by EAA security personnel will be held in the Center’s juvenile holding rooms until picked up by their parents. H Crime Stoppers of Michigan EAA has partnered with Crime Stoppers o Michigan to launch Project Sae Campus as part o our e ort to assure a sae campus or all our schools. Working with each school’s student council, Project Sae Campus encourages students to anonymously report incidents o crime, bullying or any other potentially unsae situation. Each student will be awarded up to $100 or every anonymous tip that leads to action. While the school year is still young, I am pleased to report that the response on the part o students, parents and caregivers, aculty and administrators has been overwhelmingly positive. One grandmother wrote us that she has “learned to love her (granddaughter’s) school as much as she does.” She continued, “It is imperative that we create a sae and stimulating environment or our children to learn while listening to parents in orming a more cohesive educational experience or our children.” This was just one o the testimonies we’ve received rom students and parents who are noticing a di erence in our new system that will deliver a di erent outcome. But her comments sum up the enthusiasm and excitement so many students, parents and other caregivers have been voicing to us. This newsletter is part o our continuing e ort to reach out to our EAA amily to keep you up to date on what is happening in our schools. I hope you will take a ew minutes to read it.
