Overwhelmingly the two key topics are skills and transport. We’ve covered rail services extensively, but eedback rom companies was not to orget the road inrastructure. The old chestnut o trust in business has been raised again. Nationally we have run a campaign o “business is good or Britain”, yet some seem convinced that companies do nothing or staf, customers or the wider community and cannot be trusted. I would like the critics to see what I see and that is businesses who give staf great development opportunities, who allocate time to volunteering, who open their doors to young people to get a taste o the world o work, as well as sponsoring local charities and much more. The Chamber runs an online assessment or businesses to measure their impact in relation to the economy, employment, education and the environment. It’s called ‘Raising the Bar’ and I encourage members to use it and enter the awards. It would be great to tell the real story o our world o business. I you’d like to know more call us or have a look at www.raising-the-bar. org.uk or call 01274 230042 Finally we aim to give members opportunities to supply new developments rom the of-shore wind project in the Humber and HS2 to the potential mining o Potash in North Yorkshire.
