Exhibition and Collections: An Inside Look is one of the Capstone courses Stonehill College offers to Art History, Graphic Design and Arts Administration Majors. This course offers students the opportunity to learn firsthand about curatorial practices. Students are guided by Professor Allyson Sheckler and Carole Calo Gallery Director Candice Smith Corby. Each fall students in the class curate an exhibition of professional artists’ work in the Carole Calo Gallery on campus. The student-curators develop the concept for the show; choose artwork to be displayed; design the exhibition announcement; write press releases and wall text; install the artwork in the gallery; produce a catalogue and plan a reception and artist panel. The eagerness, attentiveness, and professionalism of the eight student-curators of Visionary Vistas are evident in this compelling exhibit.
