2 Stephanie Caddy Interim Clubhouse Manager It has been such a busy season in spite of the weather. It is so hard to believe that summer is coming to an end. I feel as though I just arrived, how can it be over already? I know some of the parents are glad that summer is coming to a close, and happy to get back into a routine with the kids, but to me that just means the snow is about to fly. Not too sure I am too ready for that yet. Oh well, we do still have some great events in September and October, and would like to remind you about them, please make sure to read the newsletter carefully for information. In addition, I would like to thank all of you for allowing the employees the opportunity to use the golf course and pool on Monday, August 4 th for the Annual Employee Golf & Picnic. We had over 60 players for golf and over 80 employees attended the picnic. This is an event that your staff looks forward to each year and for some it is the only opportu- nity that they have to see the club outside of their own work areas. The employees competed in basketball, tennis, golf, sailing, darts, horseshoes, bingo and volleyball. A great time was enjoyed by all. I would like to extend a personal thank you to all of the department heads. Without their assistance and organization this event would not be possible. The Annual Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 25 th at 5:30 p.m.. Please be sure to check your mail for the slate of 2014 officers and directors. Following the meeting, cocktails and dinner stations will be available, however we ask that you please make sure to make reservations online or by calling the club office at (651)429-4567, so that we can make sure to accommodate all of the members who would like to partici- pate. As a reminder, the club is available for holiday parties in the month of December. The Club will be open for events beginning on Saturday, December 6 th through Sunday, De- cember 21 st . During this time, the Lakeside Clubhouse will be beautifully decorated for the Holiday Season and is the perfect place to host your holiday event. Prom Catering will once again be providing the catering and staffing, and WBYC will be providing beverage/bar service for the events. This is a fabulous time to celebrate at the club with your family, friends, and co-workers. Additionally, Santa Brunch will be on Sunday, December 7 th and the Annual Holiday Party will be on Friday, December 19 th . Please make sure to watch your email for information regarding these two events. It’s such a wonderful time of the year to get together and celebrate. Please keep in mind that the club is the perfect setting to celebrate the upcoming season. If you, your company or an organization that you are affiliated with is looking for a facility to host your event, look no further. The club is capable of hosting weddings, special events, and Monday golf outings and there are several prime dates still available in 2015. Please feel free to contact myself or Jessica Cannon to book your date. In closing, if I or my staff can be of service to you in any way, please feel free to contact me at (651) 429-4567 ext. 420 or by email at scaddy@wbyc.com or stop in at the club. It has been my honor and a privilege to serve as your Commodore in 2014 and especially during the 125 th anniversary of the club's founding. Judith and I have enjoyed our time at as many of the club events as possible. Of course, our favorite event was the Commodore’s Ball. It was so wonderful to see many of the attendees get in the spirit of the evening by wearing kilts or some sort of tartan attire. The staff is now calling it the “Haggis Ball”. It has also been a great pleasure to welcome so many new members to our club and see them all enjoying the beautiful facilities and events. Dave Kelly and his team did a remarkable job of recruiting new members in all categories and helping to raise awareness of our brand of country club and the many activities our club offers its members. Last year on the House Committee our motto was “Make it Work”. This year our motto was “Make it Better”. I want to thank the staff, the Board, Committees, Members, and my beautiful wife Judith for doing their very best to make this happen. CommodoreJeff Young
