Page 2 The Walk From Pastor DONNA As this newsletter goes out, summer is slipping into fall. At church this summer has been marked by much activity of youth and children coming and going in the facility; the road trip of our high school youth; time spent at camp by families, staff, and youth; and deaths — expected and unexpected with the comfort and care of gathered community. Around us swirls national and international strife — wars, terrorism, vio- lence, protests, fires and out-of-control weather. But also we receive reports of wonderful and amazing trips that people are taking across the country and abroad. Sometimes the change and movement takes my breath away! What do I hope for our life together this September? Ready, Set, Cross! The worship theme of “Ready, Set, Cross!” is a playful invitation to go deep into the hospitality and grace of God. We can take radical risks for the sake of the gospel! I hope that we follow the developments in the world and in our own neighborhoods not with fear, but with faith that God is there, too, crossing the turmoil with hospitality. I hope that we ready ourselves to be blessing — looking for opportunities to make the sign of the cross, the sign of Christ’s presence with those who suffer and with those who experi- ence joy. We can start by practicing making the sign of the cross on our own bodies and on one another. We can continue the practice of blessing those who follow their callings to minis- ter through their daily work. And, finally, I hope that we will find our strength in Jesus the Storyteller, who draws us into a sacred circle week af- ter week where we are fed with holy Word and holy meal and holy people. Our strength will multiply. Our prayers will be fierce. Our hospitality will be radical. And our world will be a little more whole and holy, by God’s grace. Contact Us!
