Our week kicked off on Wednesday May 6th with a special radio interview on Dublin City FM’s Good Morning Dublin show. Our Managing Director Cora Barnes was in the studio promoting our #CelebrateNurses our everyday Heroes campaign. While Cora was in the studio we headed off to James Connolly Memorial Hospital where we surprised the Nursing Staff with Cupcakes and Cakepops to show them our appreciation. We even let some super nice patients take one or two.

This year we were delighted to have Nursing Homes Ireland on board for Celebrate Nurses Week. Grainne Hanly Project Officer for Nurse Recruitment coordinated the sending of information to their members inviting them to host their own #CelebrateNurses event. We had a great response to this and we sent off Party Packs to a wide range of Nursing Homes across Ireland. We are looking forward to receiving the pictures from the Nursing Homes involved.

On Thursday May 7th we visited Highfield Healthcare and met Melanie Eustace who made us feel very welcome. We had the pleasure of meeting a great group of Nurses in their canteen, they really enjoyed the Cupcakes and Cakepops and insisted we come back every week with the same.

On Friday May 9th we visited Temple Street Children’s Hospital with the same treats. We were delighted to be welcomed by the administrations staff and all the amazing nurses.

On Monday may 11th we visited our last venue the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland. We were delighted to be involved with the Executive Director Thomas Kearns and the RSCI in the setting up of the inaugural Celebrate Nurses event. The RCSI School of Nursing and Midwifery will join us each year for our #CelebrateNurses campaign.

In 2013 at our first #CelebrateNurses event we began our online e-book for Nurses. Over the past 3 years we have been gathering comments of thanks for nurses. Each venue we attended this year we gathered more comments of thanks for nurses. You can view comments or leave your comment of thanks by visiting www.celebratenurses.ie
