2 I recently read this statement rom an alumnus who was sharing the experience o a “Patriot” education. It prompted me to reect on a recent school event where we hosted over three hundred athletes in our annual Cross-Country Invitational. As the invitational began, the course had only painted arrows and adults to guide the way or the ath- letes who would soon be running the races. The conclusion o the event, however, revealed quite a dierent picture. The painted arrows now had the company o the athletes’ ootprints. Collectively, these ootprints had worn a path that was much more visible than the initial arrows. The ootprints and arrows combined to paint a picture o not only where the runners were sup- posed to run, but also o their participation and completion o the race. Such is our prayer or students at Open Door Christian Schools. The ODCS mission statement speaks to partnering with parents and the local church towards the salvation, discipleship, and education o our students. This mission is very much like the arrows painted on the resh cut grass. It provides the direction towards how we approach the education o each child entrusted to our care. While we are appreciative o the direction our mission provides, the statement above reects what I am priv- ileged to hear rom so many o our alumni and cur- rent students. Their experiences are the ootprints that reect their participation and ultimately the completion o our mission. These ootprints, coupled with our mission, become the “Patriot Path” upon which we want our current and uture students to ollow. This edition o The Patriot Voice continues to provide ootprints to an already well-proven path. In each article you will see the distinct ootprints o the Christ-centered education provided at ODCS. Additionally, we unveil the “Patriot Path” that serves to showcase the lie events o our Alumni as we con- tinually strive to remain connected and grow with them. I pray that what you read will afrm your continued support and prayers as ODCS partners with you towards honoring the Lord and serving our students. In Christ, Denver L. Daniel Head o Schools In partnership with the amily and the local church, our mission is the salvation, the discipleship, and the education or lie and service o the students entrusted to our care.
